I’m currently evaluating some other online help desk communities (forums) and will post a review right here at the end of the month. Depending upon my experiences on those forums, they will receive a rating from 1 to 10 with a detailed description of my experiences there, good or bad.
I found this onboard video camera that you can use on your nitro or electric radio controlled monster truck, truggy or buggy. With it, you can take moving pictures as your radio controlled savage, warhead, revo, losi, etc is doing those killer jumps!
If you’re not local to S.C., please forward this to someone who might want to participate who is local to S.C…
Hey guys & gals…I desperately need some participants for the following 2 events and I hope you don’t mind me emailing you. I’ve kinda put the cart before the horse, securing the event slots before I had many participants. Please email me back at nitrowarhead@hotmail.com if you want to sign up - or sign up some friends. I’d really like to get a good idea of who is coming, so please RSVP.
It’s absolutely free, all we need is some r/c enthusiasts who want to show off their ride, race a bit (totally informal), and help teach the kids about R/C. I’m bringing my new Revo 3.3 and my Bulletproof Savage (ok, it’s not quite bulletproof, but don’t tell anyone hehe)…….
Event 1 - Camp Kemo R/C Exhibition (For Cancer Kids) - Wednesday, June 14th, 2:00pm (Details Below or contact ashburg)
Event 2 - Camp Wonderhands R/C Exhibition (For Deaf and Hard of Hearing Kids) - Monday, June 19th, 2:00pm (Details Below or contact ashburg)
It is very hard to get a slot in either of these camps, especially Camp Kemo! I hope y’all can work with the time slot during the week like this…
For either event, please be there at 2:00pm sharp. Our Show will be from 2:15 until 4:30 or so (we have a 2 hour slot!!).
Where is it - Camp Kindard - The Kinard Conference Center is approximately seven miles south of Batesburg-Leesville and 20 miles west of Columbia. From Columbia, take I-20 toward Augusta. Turn off I-20 at Exit 44 (Road 34) and go towards Batesburg-Leesville for four miles. Turn left on Two Notch Road. The entrance is one mile on the left. If anyone has trouble finding it, I’ll send you the exact coordinates so you can go to earth.google.com and pinpoint the location or I can email you a map & directions.
Who exactly are we entertaining here - The Kid Campers of Camp Wonderhands, Camp Kemo, and the Camp Directors. These kids range in age from 5 to 16 or so. They will be enjoying their annual summer camp week.
How do you sign up to participate - Email Ashley Brooks at nitrowarhead@hotmail.com. Let me know what kind of off road vehicle you have…it can be nitro or electric, it doesn’t matter. Please also let me know a little about yourself. Currently, there is no limit to the number of participants.
What exactly are we going to “DO” in this Exhibition? - Since a free for all freestyle show the whole time might be a bit dangerous and monotonous, we’ve decided to do a race, then a stunt show/exhibition show, and a short “educational” program for the kids. A race of sorts will enable the kids to participate as well (betting on cars, waving checkered flags, etc). We’ll be navigating our trucks, truggies and buggies (all scales) around small cones in an accomodating field. The freestyle stunt show/bash is anything goes, but will be after the race or between the mini heats. Bring your ramp if you have one! We want to be careful, no matter what we do, that we don’t hit anyone of course…
Who is coordinating - Mr. Ashley Brooks - nitrowarhead@hotmail.com. This is my rc blog, www.ashburg.com
Can We bring guests (Spouse, Child, etc) - Yes, I’ve gotten clearance on that from the powers that be, you can bring up to 2 guests.
Sponsorship - Basically, your attendance and participation alone is your contribution to the cause, there is no charge to participate, race, enter, none. If you want to hang your business banner from your antenna, car or whatever, go for it. (I know there are some hobby shops that might want to do this). This could be a great opportunity to advertise your business!
I look forward to communicating with y’all and doing the show! How about we call our show the “Traveling R/c and Monster Truck Exhibition” or something like that for future shows? - I’ll volunteer to be coordinator…for now, we’ve got these 2 slots!
Bye for now,
ash

How to rebuild a hitec 645 brake, throttle, steering servo schematic
If you have ever done like I did and went with a bellcrank that didn’t have any provision for a steering servo saver on it, you may have encountered exactly what I did here. The Gears on this Hitec HS 645 High Torque Steering Servo didn’t stand a chance with no servo saver in the linkage.
The first thing you need to do is to take the 4 phillips head screws out of the bottom of the servo. They are as long as the whole assembly and hold the OTHER side of the servo in place. Once these 4 bolts are removed, CAREFULLY remove the top plate, the side of the servo that is covering the gears on the top of the servo where the servo horn fits on.
Underneath the plate, you will see a set of gears. These servo gears are put together in such a manner as to slow down the speed output of the motor and to govern the movement of the servo horn. Chances are, if you have broken your steering servo, be it metal gear or plastic gear, the middle gear will be missing some teeth as shown below.
You will need to obtain a gear rebuild kit - contact me and I’ll tell you where to get one cheap. They run about $14 and are readily available (because lots of people strip this little servos!).
To aid with the removal and replacement of that middle gear, carefully pull the center pin out, then slide the center gear out, swap the new gear in there, and replace the pin. If you moved that large gear, the one with the servo horn spline on it, make sure it is centered and facing the right way!!!
Dig a little grease from the assembly and smear it on the teeth of the new gear…otherwise, you’ll have to go find some electrical lube (I don’t know, will diff lube work?!)
Put the cover back on and install the 4 phillips head bolts back in…reinstall the servo, hook up the linkage, and check for side to side balance…then go break it again
Below are some pics, one of the stock Savage X plastic gears (white), the other with BROKEN metal gear teeth, another of the little “pin” I’m talking about, and finally the end result.
